How To Order Your Credit Score
Get Your Score Online Before Applying For Loans
Need to know how to get your credit score? Don't worry it's actually pretty easy but not free. That's right, don't get your credit score confused with your credit report. These are two different things and only the credit report comes to you free under certain conditions. There are several ways to obtain your credit score as you will see but you won't see any significant differences among those methods.
Order It From MyFico.com
The score that is the most viewed by your lenders is the FICO score so if you need to order your credit score, simply visit myfico.com for the details on how to order your credit score and more such as credit monitoring. You should also know that myfico.com allows you to order your score based on your credit report at TransUnion or Equifax. However you cannot access your credit score based on your Experian credit report anymore. The only way to get that one is to visit the bureaus' web site experian.com
Order It From The Three Credit Bureau
You can still purchase individual or 3-in-1 credit scores from the each of the credit bureaus. Simply visit the credit bureaus' web site for details on how to order your credit score. However be aware that the scores might vary from one bureau to another because each bureau has its own formula to calculate your score and it's important to understand that these are not FICO scores. All three bureaus have their own scores such as PLUS, BEACON and EMPIRICA which are all considered FAKO scores. It's not as important as the FICO but still useful to have.
So Which One's Better
The one you should be most concerned about is your FICO score because if you're looking to increase your FICO credit score, you'll have no choice but to improve all your credit reports from the three nationwide credit bureaus. A FAKO score would only be good if you already knew which credit bureau is your lender having business with, which is usually impossible to know. However, like mentioned earlier, if you focus on having a good FICO score you'll have no choice but to have a good credit report from each of the three nationwide credit bureaus. Your FICO is like an average of your FAKO scores so it's better to be safe by improving your FICO than improving only one of your FAKO scores.
